8 Tips on Looking Good When Posing for a Photo


1) Turn your body and drop your shoulder towards the camera.

 

2) Bend the knee that’s closest to the camera.

 

3) “Hide” behind a child or another adult in the photo by standing behind their arm. Be careful not to completely hide though! You don’t want to be a floating head in the picture!

 

4) Create a triangle with other people in your photo. It’s more visually appealing!

 

5) Slightly tilt heads towards each other. Put your heads close together but no smooshing.

This special event will remember the tenth anniversary of September 11, 2001 and will celebrate the United States of  America.  A piece of history is being brought to Coon Rapids, a section of an I-beam from the Twin Towers will be on display and will become a permanent memorial at Fire Station #1.

National Toasted Marshmallow Day


August 30th

Have your very own marshmallow toasting party on National Marshmallow Toasting Day?  

We dare you!  NO  We double dare you!  

Ancient Egyptians would extract sap from the marshmallow plant and mix it with nuts and honey. Another pre-modern recipe uses the pith of the marshmallow plant, rather than the sap. The stem was peeled back to reveal the soft and spongy pith, which was boiled in sugar syrup and dried to produce a soft, chewy confection.
