THE Y CAMP EXPERIENCE

At the Y, we believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. Y camps share one thing: DISCOVERY. Campers have the opportunity to explore nature, find new talents, try new activities, gain independence, and make lasting friendships and memories. And, of course, camp is fun too!

Our commitment to nurturing the potential of children and teens, promoting healthy living, and fostering a sense of social responsibility come alive at YMCA camps. For over 125 years, our camps have provided a safe, thriving environment for young people to explore personal interests, build self-esteem develop interpersonal skills, discover the creativity and health benefits of the outdoors, and make lasting friendships and memories.

LIFELONG FRIENDSHIPS AND MEMORIES ARE MADE AT Y CAMP

One of the main joys of camp is living and participating in an environment that fosters and facilitates friendships. Camp is a respite from constraints and a place to gain confidence in social skills, which ultimately effect friendship. At Y camps, common experiences, individual respect and open communication crate bonds between campers that can last a lifetime.

YMCA DAY CAMP

Day Camp is a 5-day enrichment program and the next step in youth development for kids ages 4-14. Day Camp gives kids a traditional camp experience during the day and kids come home at night. Our Day Camps are wonderful places for your child to experience fun, outdoor adventures this summer. Campers enjoy traditional camp activities such as swimming, canoeing, archery, fishing, environmental education, cookouts, arts and crafts and more. Campers can also choose a specialty camp that provides two hour of focus on a favorite activity.  Every camper benefits from the outstanding connection with nature they have each day at camp. Our 10 Day Camps are conveniently located throughout the Twin Cities Metro Area.

YMCA OVERNIGHT CAMP

Our overnight camps provide campers ages 7-17 with a warm and nurturing environment where they learn more about themselves, their cabin-mates, and the natural world around them. Trained Y staff focuses on responsible behavior, respectful communication and an honest and caring environment. During the day, campers have an opportunity to be involved in activities that encourage them to step outside of their comfort zones, have new experiences, increase self-confidence and care for others. Find the right fit for your camper at one of our 4 overnight camps: Camp Ihduhapi (Loretto, MN), Camp Icaghowan (Amery, WI), Camp St. Croix (Hudson, WI), and Camp Warren (Eveleth, MN).

YMCA TEEN WILDERNESS CAMP

Your adventurous camper will experience personal growth as a result of the transformational experiences gained through YMCA’s Teen Wilderness Camps.  The magic happens in the wilderness where young people, ages 12-18, explore North America’s wild places. Campers start in base camp then head out on canoeing, backpacking and rock climbing trips. Sessions range from 8 days to 1 month or more. YMCA Camp Menogyn is located on the Gunflint Train, near Grand Marais, MN; YMCA Camp Widjiwagan is located on Burntside Lake, near Ely, MN.
