Since 2023, Centerstage Children’s Theater has allowed students in grades K-12 to show off and grow in their talents. Every child has unique gifts and abilities, and Centerstage Children’s Theater enables them to use those gifts on stage. Not only do the actors develop their talents on stage, they enhance their self-confidence, critical thinking, and focus. Centerstage Children’s Theater offers two productions throughout the year and additional programming during the summer. This spring, they are excited to put on their next production: Disney’s Descendants: The Musical.

Disney’s Descendants: The Musical is based on the Disney Channel Original Movies. It is jam-packed with recognizable and lovable characters and songs from the movies. The musical follows four teenage children of Disney villains as they transfer from their home on the Isle of the Lost to attend a preparatory school with the children of Disney heroes. The villainous children must decide between following the wickedness they know or learning to be good. The musical is a comedic adventure, promising fun for the whole family.

Centerstage Children’s Theater offers eight different casts. Options include two homeschool casts for grades K-12 rehearsing on Friday afternoons and another homeschool cast for grades K-12 rehearsing on Monday afternoons. Additionally, there is a 3rd-12th grade cast rehearsing on Monday evenings. On Sundays, there are one K-8th grade cast, one 4th -12th cast, one 6th -12th cast, and a family cast. The family cast invites parents to act alongside their children. Rehearsals take place in Osseo, Nowthen, or Champlin depending on the cast. Performances are scheduled to take place in Crystal and Nowthen-Crystal shows will be in June and Nowthen shows will be in May.

Each cast for Disney’s Descendants: The Musical will follow the same script, but may have variations in blocking, choreography, and props. All actors registered will be in the cast and have an opportunity for a speaking and/or vocal solo. Cast sizes are kept small, which ensures each child gets maximum time on stage and in an individual role. The directors for each cast work towards helping each child grow in their role, so they feel confident on stage.
