There is nothing better than a great book that teaches kids the power of Kindness. Minnesota Kindness Alliance is the sponsor of the 2nd edition of Kindness Travels, which was written by a local author named Lisa Metwaly. This book is an interactive and fun way to teach kids about Kindness.
In this book, Penny Powers is inspired by a stranger to continue to spread the kindness. Along the way, she learned the power of kindness traveling and what it meant to pay it forward to others. Seeing what a kind act can do for someone in need and feeling the impact she can make even through a small, friendly gesture is seen throughout this story.
My kids loved reading this together and it created great conversation around how one small, kind gesture can make a huge difference. At the end of the book, there is a group activity that gets you discussing the variety of kind acts that take place throughout. It gave us a chance to talk about what other random acts of kindness we've experienced from others as well as think about what we can do for others. There is also a game inside, other activities, and the opportunity to share the Kindness Travels book with others!

Join Minnesota Kindness Alliance and the Anoka Kindness Rock Garden as they host an evening at Starbucks in Coon Rapids where you will hear a live reading of the Kindness Travels: Penny Power book and have the opportunity to paint rocks with all the painting supplies being provided.
