Summer Reading

Keep Your Child's Literacy Skills Sharp

Summertime is a great opportunity for adults to inspire children to read.  Reading and having books read to them can ignite a child’s intellectual curiosity.  Kids develop valuable language skills, learn how to tell stories, and gain knowledge about the world through reading.  Children are becoming transliterate; capable of reading, writing, and interacting with media across a range of platforms.  The most effective base to successfully building these skills is still the old chestnut, reading books.

The Avengers Reviews

KIDS FIRST! Coming Attractions

Superheroes Rate Super Well as KIDS FIRST! Youth Film Critics Review 'The Avengers'

"Bam!" "Ka-Pow!" "Bonk!" – as they say in comic books. While that's not really what the superheroes of The Avengers have to say (they are much more articulate), their actions are fairly true to their comic book roots. KIDS FIRST! youth film critics Julianna Noone (age 12) and Talia Rashba (age 11) each give the film a full 5 out of 5 stars, and are quite articulate themselves on their reasons for the top rating.

It's Bug Season!

Macaroni Cares

According to the National Pest Management Association, an unseasonably warm winter is expected to bring bugs and pests out of hibernation early this year, meaning we’re in store for prolonged mosquito season. Rather than turning to toxic bug sprays to fight against mosquito-borne viruses like West Nile and Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE), Mom’s everywhere can count on PIC® to help protect their families from dangerous mosquito bites with two unique products that provide maximum protection with all-natural ingredients that don’t need to be applied to skin.
