On a Saturday afternoon I had coffee with a friend from High School, Jennifer Dewing. We had reconnected on Facebook, of all places. I was intrigued by her occupation; Children’s Book Author. Jennifer is an Author for I See Me! Personalized Children Books. I have been following I See Me! on Facebook, on their website, and in the media. I contacted Jennifer to see if she would meet with me to discuss I See Me! and possibly do a giveaway with Macaroni Kid. Of course she said "yes".
Jennifer is currently living in Edina with her husband and 3 children. Just like all Moms she keeps a busy schedule with her family and career. Jennifer didn’t always want to be an Author. She started out her career working with children’s toys in Product Development and Marketing for companies like; Matchbox, Fisher Price, and Madeline Dolls. She has always had a love of books, but never thought of that as her career. She would find herself buying books as gifts. After the birth of child and moving back to Minnesota from Chicago she decided to take some writing classes. She felt that writing was her dream. After submitting stories for publishing and receiving decline letters, she learned being a writer requires a lot of patience and persistence.
About 4 years ago Jennifer found out about an opportunity that has allowed her to write and do what she loves with I See Me!. She met with the founders Maia and her husband Allan. They were in need of a part-time author. The meeting went well and Jennifer has been loving her time with I See Me! ever since. Maia and Allan started I See Me! in 2000. They live in Minnesota and were working for General Mills prior to starting I See Me!
Jennifer believes in the Mission of I See Me! by increasing self-esteem, showing the best qualities of every child, and celebrating each child's uniqueness. The books are personalized, so they make the child feel loved and special for the different qualities they have to offer. Jennifer has written 12 books and has won numerous awards.
