Slime

Anytime is Slime Time

By Charlotte Linde - Cedar Rapids Macaroni Kid January 6, 2011

I couldn't wait until Halloween to share this fun craft.   Anytime of the year is Slime time!   Make pink slime and put into a small plastic heart containers for Valentines Day, or even in Easter Eggs instead of candy. I have used this recipe at my son's birthday party and sent the kids home with a small mason jar of their own slime to take home!   This craft is really easy to make and the kids will have so much fun playing with it!

You will need:

  • Two Mixing bowls
  • Wooden Spoon or Craft Stick
  • Borax (you can find this in the laundry section of your grocery store)
  • Water
  • Elmer's White Glue
  • Food Coloring (optional)

Directions:

In one bowl take one cup of water and add it to one Tbs of borax.  Stir until completely dissolved with spoon.  In the other bowl, take a 1/4 cup of Elmer's glue and 1/4 cup of water and mix well.  Add the borax solution to the glue solution.  If you want, now is the time to add a couple of drops of food coloring.  Stir together until slime is formed.  Store in mason jars and use over and over.  When slime starts to dry out or get dirty...just make a new batch!  It lasts a pretty long time!
